FIND THE RIGHT RASH GUARD

Which HiViz rash guard is right for your child?

All HiViz rash guards combine true fluorescent neon color, UPF 50+ protection and comfortable four-way stretch. The best style depends on where your child is wearing it and how much coverage you want.

LONG-SLEEVE RASH GUARD

BEST FOR: Beach days, boating, summer camp + maximum sun coverage

More covered skin means less exposed skin that needs sunscreen throughout the day. UPF 50+ fabric, comfortable four-way stretch and true HiViz Neon make this our go-to when coverage and visibility are the priorities.

SHORT-SLEEVE RASH GUARD

BEST FOR: Swim lessons, pool days + active swimmers

A great everyday option when you want high visibility and UPF 50+ protection on covered skin with more freedom around the arms.

ZIP-UP LONG-SLEEVE RASH GUARD

BEST FOR: Water parks, theme parks, splash pads + full-day outings

Easy on and off when kids are moving between swimming and other activities, with long-sleeve UPF 50+ coverage and true HiViz Neon that helps them stand out in busy environments.

NOT ALL NEON IS HIVIZ NEON

Bright vs. True Neon vs. HiViz Neon

Bright colors and true neon are not the same thing. A swimsuit can look colorful on the rack without being fluorescent. True fluorescent neon absorbs UV light and re-emits some energy as visible light, creating the intense, vivid appearance associated with high-visibility color.

BRIGHT

Colorful and eye-catching, but not necessarily fluorescent. A bright color may still lose visibility in and around water because of glare, background or surrounding colors.

TRUE NEON

Fluorescent color absorbs UV light and re-emits some energy as visible light, producing the extra-vivid appearance that can look almost glowing in daylight.

HIVIZ NEON

HiViz Neon combines true fluorescent color with the UPF 50+ sun protection, OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified materials, comfort and durability parents expect from quality kids' swimwear.

VISIBILITY CHANGES WITH THE WATER

Does swimsuit visibility change in pools, lakes and at the beach?

Yes. Water color, clarity, depth, lighting, reflections and background all affect how easy a swimsuit is for you to visually track. Because visibility changes by environment, HiViz recommends different neon colors for different water conditions rather than naming one universal best swimsuit color.

POOL

POOL

Blue water, pool finishes, reflections and crowded decks can all affect contrast. Fluorescent neon gives the eye a strong visual cue in a busy pool environment.

LAKE

LAKE

Lake water is often darker and less clear than a pool. Depth, sediment and vegetation can change visibility quickly, making strong color contrast especially important.

OCEAN

OCEAN

Surf, foam, sunlight, sand and crowds create a different background. High-visibility color can help a child stand out against the visual activity around them.

CHOOSE COLOR BY WATER

Which neon colors do we recommend for different water conditions?

The best color can change with the water and background. For the strongest visual contrast, these are the HiViz neon colors we recommend starting with for each environment.

Dark ocean or lake water

For darker or less clear water, we recommend starting with strong fluorescent colors that create bold contrast.

Neon YellowNeon GreenNeon Orange

Light or clear ocean water + light-bottom pools

Against lighter water and pool finishes, neon pink and neon orange are strong places to start.

Neon PinkNeon Orange

Dark-bottom pools

For darker pool finishes, we recommend starting with neon yellow, green or orange for strong contrast.

Visibility varies with depth, lighting, water clarity, reflections and background. High-visibility color is an additional visual cue and does not replace active supervision or other water-safety measures.

WHAT GOES INTO HIVIZ SWIMWEAR

Why does the fabric matter in high-visibility swimwear?

True neon color is only one part of HiViz Swimwear. We chose our fabric for the combination of vivid fluorescent color, chlorine resistance, comfortable four-way stretch, quick drying and durability. Our swimwear is made with REPREVE® recycled polyester and is OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified.

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100

Independently tested for harmful substances under OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 requirements, adding a recognized textile-safety standard to the material choices behind HiViz swimwear.

REPREVE® RECYCLED POLYESTER

Recycled polyester chosen for durability, strong color performance and repeat wear without giving up the characteristics we need from kids' swimwear.

CHLORINE + FADE RESISTANT

Designed to help our true neon colors stay bright through regular swimming and repeat wear.

4-WAY STRETCH + QUICK DRYING

Comfortable stretch supports easy movement in the water while quick-drying fabric helps kids transition to the rest of the day.

WHY TRUE NEON MATTERS

What makes a good kids' rash guard?

A good kids' rash guard should protect them from the sun, move comfortably with them, dry quickly and hold up to all the swimming kids put it through. At HiViz, we believe it should also help you see them. That's why our rash guards pair UPF 50+ protection and comfortable, durable fabric with true fluorescent neon colors our customers consistently describe as some of the brightest they've seen.

HiViz Swimwear puts safety first and specializes in hi-viz, or high-visibility, swimwear designed to create strong visual contrast in and around water. Visibility is what makes us different, without treating comfort, quality or durability as an afterthought.

QUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK ABOUT HIVIZ

Questions about HiViz kids' neon rash guards

Quick answers about visibility, sun coverage, fit, fabric and textile certification.

What color rash guard is easiest to see in the water?

Fluorescent neon colors can create strong visual contrast, but the easiest color to see changes with water type, depth, lighting and surroundings. That is why we recommend thinking about the environment too and not just relying on a single universal color.

Are neon rash guards easier to see than regular bright-colored rash guards?

They can be. A color can look bright without being fluorescent. True neon interacts with UV light differently and can appear more vivid, although actual visibility still depends on the water and surrounding conditions.

Do kids need a rash guard if they already wear sunscreen?

A UPF rash guard protects the skin it covers and reduces the amount of exposed skin that needs sunscreen. Sunscreen is still important on uncovered skin and should be applied and reapplied according to its directions.

Is UPF 50+ good for a kids' rash guard?

Yes. UPF 50+ is a high ultraviolet protection rating for fabric, making it well suited to kids' swimwear designed for extended outdoor use.

Why does HiViz use polyester instead of nylon?

We chose a recycled polyester-based fabric because chlorine resistance, quick drying, durability and strong color performance are especially important for HiViz.

Should a kids' rash guard fit tight or loose?

A rash guard should generally fit close enough that it does not billow or create excess drag in the water, while still giving a child enough stretch and room to move comfortably. Some kids prefer a looser fit, or more snug, based on sensory preferences. If you need any help with sizing please message on the site, or email us; we are happy to help!

What does OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 mean for kids' swimwear?

OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 is an independent textile certification. Certified textiles are tested for harmful substances against OEKO-TEX® criteria, giving parents another way to evaluate what goes into clothing worn against their child's skin.
